HOOSIER ROTARY WILL CONVERGE ON FT. WAYNE
Two-Day Conference of 20th District Opens Monday; Election Due.
By United Press FT. WAYNE, April 30.—Several
hundred Indiana Rotarians are to converge on Ft. Wayne Monday for the annual two-day conference of the 20th district Rotary International, Speeches, banquets, dances, sports and conferences, plus the annual election, were on the program for
their 23rd meeting. A separate pro- |
gram for Rotarians’ wives has been arranged. Climaxing the crammed schedule will be a discussion of “Peace” by Senator Nye (R.,, N. D.) Tuesday noon. Pre-conference reports indicated that Indianapolis’ expected bid for the 1938 session would receive serious consideration.
Seeks Presidency
. The Rev. A. Elliston Cole, Trinity Episcopal Church pastor at Bloomington,” has filed the lone candidacy thus far for the district presidency. Present district governor is C. Seymour Bullock, South Bend, who will preside over all sessions. The Rev. Mr. Cole has been a Rotarian for 18 years. He attended Purdue and Indiana universities and later the Western Theological Semjnary in Chicago. He has been a delegate at five international conventions. Harrison E. Howe, Washington, chemist and official representative of the International organization, is another featured speaker. He was governor of the 34th district in 1935 and 1936. A third principal speaker is to be Frank E. Herring, South Bend, who | will talk Monday evening. A former Notre Dame professor and past national president of the Eagles Lodge, Mr. Herring is managing editor of the Eagles’ magazine. All sessions of the conference will be held at the Shrine Auditorium.
