CITY TO BECOME COOKIE CAPITAL THIS SATURDAY
; Girl Scout Sale to Place. 35,000 Packages on Market Here.
Cookie forecasting has not yet become an exact science but best estimates are that Indianapolis Saturday will be the cookie capital of America. That’s because it will be the Girl Scout’s annual cookie day during which more than a million and a half cookies in 35,000 packages will be on the market. They will contain at least 5068 quarts cf milk, 5336 pounds of honey, 24,000 eggs, 14,960 pounds of shortening, 22,440 pounds of cane sugar,
48,000 pounds of flour, and 68 gal- :
lons of vanilla. Here's the Recipe
Mix, pat into shape with a special Scout cookie die, bake until brown, and pack in-green and yellow souvenir box in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Girl Scouts. The first Girl Scout| cookie sale was held here In 192g, the year Camp Dellwood was organized. The proceeds were $662.69. In 1936, use of the cookie money was broadened to take| in the upkeep of the Girl Scout biti House, 14th and Talbot Sts. {where Giri. Scouts hold meetings, give parties and are examined fo proficiency badges, and where adults hold training courses, committee |and council meetings. Last year, 35,000 dogen cookies were sold, at a profit of approximately $3000. This year the proceeds of the cookie sale will be divided among several camping projects. They will underwrite the expenses for the Girl Scouts’ first experiment with camping for the Brownies, who are the 7|to 10-year-
