SUSPECT IS GRILLED IN $35,000 HOLDUP

Constable, Fearing for Life, Turns Three Others Lose.

By United Press SOUTH BEND, Ind. April 16.—One suspect was held and three others sought by police here today in connection with the $35,000 hold-

up of the Grand Rapids, Mich., National Bank Wednesday. A search for three ‘dangerouslooking” men driving a black sedan was started after Constable Ralph E. Rose told police he stopped the car late yesterday on Road 31 north of here, but released the men when he became frightened. He said he started to search one of the occupants of the car and the two others edged away. Fearing for his life, he said, he told the alleged

suspects to get into their car and drive on. All three fit descriptions of the bandits, Rose said. James Piper, 33, Detroit, was questioned by police today in. connection with the holdup.
