Vern Williams, a pupil at School 51, received chest lacerations last night when he skated into the side of an automobile near his home, 2337 Parker Ave. Police said the: boy struck the car's door handle. He was taken to City Hospital. Mrs. Irene Love, 47. of 2222 Parker Ave. the car driver, was held blameless by police. Two motorists were sentenced to 30 days in jail after their conviction on drunken driving charges by Judge Charles Karabell in Municipal Court. They are Brgeley Girton, 22, of 228 W. 145th St., and Howard Wade, 145 S. Hawthorne Lane. Fines were imposed on each. Licenses of 270 drunken drivers were revoked during the first three months of this year by the Motor Vehicle Bureau, Robert Hill, Chief Hearing Judge, said today. He said the action was the result of the state-wide highway and traffic safety campaign, which also caused 54 other drivers to lose licenses for recklessness and speeding.

Means to Improve East St. Are Considered by Works Board.
