TRIAL OPENS MONDAY
The trial of Charles Bailey, forner Washington Township Assessor charged in an affidavit with embezlement, is to begin Monday in Criminal ‘Court, Judge Frank P Baker announced today Mr. Bailev is alleged to have emhezzled $3026 in dog tax fund money which he is said to have repaid since. Judge Baker said the restitution ‘did mot relieve Mr. Bailey from the criminal charge When & previous grand jury failed to return an indictment against the former assessor, it was discharged by Judge Baker.

Judge Martin McHugh's court, John Byrne and James R. Airey wanted Judee McHugh to decide who was right in claiming the dog. “Here Scotty,” one of them called. The dog responded enthusiastically. “Here Whitey,” shouteq the other, and the terrier's allegiance switched unreservedly, “Here hoy,” John J. Kurphy, Court Clerk, shouted. And quick as a wink the dog leaped on his cuddled against his shoulder, Judge McHugh noticed tears trickling down the cheeks of Mr Alrey's son, Clifford. 14 He called Clifford to the bench and solemnly presented the dog to him, Clifford bundled the terrier une der his arm and walked triumphantly from the courtroom
