Judge Chambers Announces | Agreement on Claims.

Indianapolis and Indiana charities | are to receive $200,000 under terms | of an agreement reached in Marion | County Probate Court, Judge Smiley | N. Chambers announced today. | The agreement was prior to dismissal of a suit against the Sun Life Assurance Co. of Canada, which received $201,500 from William G. Axt, | former Indianapolis business man, shortly before his death. The James Whitcomb Riley Memorial Association and the Indianapolis Foundation were named in Mr. Axt’s will, but less than two months before his death he paid $201,500 for policies. The Sun Life Co. yesterday returned $192,000 to the estate, $50,000 of which becomes a Riley Associa- | tion trust fund. The Indianapolis | Foundation is to receive the residue | of the estate upon the death of relatives. | Mrs. Mamie Mendell, Mr. Axt's| niece, is to receive $3600 a vear under the settlement and her husband, | William Mendell, $2400. They will | also be given $20,000. |

By United Press FRANKLIN, Ind, March 12 —| Work in several departments of the Noblitt Sparks Industries today had been halted because of strikes in the automobile plants at Detroit. Company officials said the men would be shifted to maintenance and repair work until the Detroit strikes are settled. Normally the firm employs about 300 men.

Green Orders A. F. of L. To Intensify Drive

By United Press WASHINGTON, March 12.-—-Wil-liam Green, American Federation of Labor president, has personally issued orders to all federation organizers to intensify their unionization drive and to oust members of the Committee for Industrial Organization from state and central federation units, it was learned today. Mr. Green's most recent order, it was learned, followed closely his letter to state and city federation officers granting them permission to expel C. I. O. locals and launching of membership drives in competi tion with tHe C. I. O. It was regarded as a virtual declaration of war against the insurgent group headed by John L. Lewis. Mr.

Congress Withholds Labor Legislation

By United Press WASHINGTON, March 12.—-Word circulated to Administration Congressional leaders to withhold action on almost all important labor legislation until President Roosevelt definitely reveals his views on attacking wages, hours and child labor problems. This was revealed after several prominent Congressmen conferred with Mr. Roosevelt shortly before he left for a two-week vacation at Warm Springs, Ga. It came less than 12 hours after the House passed and sent to the Senate the Guffey-Vinson bill reg-

ulating the $11,000,000,000 bituminous coal industry, By setting up price-fixing provisions it affects the

wages and hours of half a million miners.

Agree to Parleys In Taxi Dispute

Dy United Press CHICAGO, March 12.—Federal conciliators brought taxicab strike ers and their employers together today for arbitration of the weeke old dispute in which nearly 100 men have been arrested, almost a dozen cabs stoned or turned over, and cab transportation reduced to scarcity, John E. O'Connor, Department of Labor conciliator, announced of= ficials of Yellow and Checker Cab Companies agreed to an arbitration meeting with strikers.
