In recent years New York State has required each applicant to submit to vision and color tests. { Our examinations are given by | experienced inspectors. After a course in driving authorized by a learner's permit the applicant is given the various tests, including his knowledge of English in the interpretation of highway signs. He is then tested in driving. The record shows that one out of three | persons examined is disqualified on the first test. The test of operators before licenses are granted is an important step in highway safety. It keeps the incompetent and reckless off the road, and is an indication that the operator is thoroughly qualified. K. Lewis, former Indianapolis resident who died last night at his home here. He was 69.
