FORMER GARY MAN TO ARGUE POWER CASES

John Scott to Represent PWA Before District Appeals Court.

Times Special WASHINGTON, Jan. 15.—John Scott, formerly of Gary, Ind. special Assistant Attorney Cenerdl oppose Newton D. Baker in arguing the consolidated Public Works Administration power cases in District Court of Appeals here Feb. 9. Agreement has been reached to combine five cases of the Alabama Power Co. and the Iowa City Power & Light Co. so that they can be hastened to final appeal in the United States Supreme Court. These cases have been held up pending ruling in the Duke Power Co. case, but the highest Court returned that case for retrial on a technicality. In each case, the right of PWA to finance power plant construction by raunicipalities is involved.. Final ruling will involve 51 cases in 23 states for which allotments totaling $50,089,891 have been made by Interior Secretary Ickes. Mr. Scott formerly was a member of the Indiana House of Representatives.
