Inmates of the County Infirmary would be sent to Julietta, which would be remodelled through a proposed $50,000 appropriation. . It was estimated this move would save the County an estimated $80,000 a year. The Indiana Municipal Leagile was to introduce amendments to the Shively-Spencer Act soon providing municipalities with more power in establishing city-owned utilities. Rep. George W. Wolf| (D. Peru), is preparing a recodification of this act, but his proposed bill is reported to contain provisions opposed by the Municial League. Besides giving approval to a State AAA program, the Indiana Farm Bureau is seeking to weld a cohesive farm group in both| Houses to further not only the State AAA but also a revamping of the $1.50 Tax Law: wording. A switch in tactics on changing the $1.50 Tax Law is under way, it was reported today. Legislators are being advised, it was said, that instead of eliminating! the word “emergency” from the law, the word should be redefined so that taxes above $1.50 can be raised only in case of an “act of God or war,” or for obligated indektedness of gov: ernmental units, :

Jan. 15. — The Martin Dam Project, now under way, will provide a two-and-a-half acre “tailormade” lake next summer for fishing and water sports, if finished on schedule, the U. S.. Forest Service said today. Started last June as a WPA project, the dam! is located on Henderson Creek near Norman, in Lawrence County. On one side is a 100-foot high, thickly wooded bluff. Raymond Fortune, Ft. Wayne, sentenced to die Jan. 26, today was granted a stay of execution until July 8 by the Indiana Supreme Court. Fortune was convicted of first de-

gree murder in the slaying about a year ago of Orris Dokken, Kohler, Wis., salesman, during the holdup of a poker game in Ft. Wayne.
