Civil city, school city, county and <¢ Center Township officials made the decision after a conference yesterday. The land went off the tax lists when purchased by the Federal Government. Federal housing officials said that 5 per cent of the gross income from the property when it gets into operation would be more than $12,000. They said, further, that total taxes from the properties involved before the project was begun were $7,074.36. The city, Federal officials said, expended only $5000 on the project, while the Federal Government spent in exceds of $3,000,000. Peter Cancilla, receiver, and Clyde Karrer, attorney for the receiver, were allowed $2750 fees each, bringing their total fees to $3000 apiece.

KIWANIS CONVENTION TO BRING 4000 HERE

There will be at least 4000 visitors at the Kiwanis international convention here June 20 to 24, O. E. Peterson, Chicago, convention manager, told local members at a meeting in the Hotel Lincoln lastnight. He issued instruction to committee chairmen and their assistants. George W. Kimball, international assistant secretary, discussed the budget allotted to each committee and conducted an open forum. Murray H. Morris is general chairman of the convention committee.
