SMALL SUPPLY OF HOGS BRINGS PRICE ADVANCE

All Weights Increase 15 to 20 Cents With Market Fairly Active.

Although the fresh pork market again declined, a scarcity of hogs boosted prices 15 to 20 cents in a fairly active market today at the Indianapolis Union Stockyards. Receipts totaled only 4000, the smallest for a week, with the exception of last Saturday.

At the close, 160 to 180 pounders

pounds were $10.55 and the 235 to 250-pound class sold for $10.45!

Packing sows were 15 cents higher and ranged from $9 to $9.65, top $9.75. Weights of 250 to 260 pounds brought. $10.35; 260 to 275 pounds, $10.25; 275 to 280 pounds. $10.15; 280 to 300 pounds, $10.05; 300 to 325 pounds, $10; 325 to 350 pounds, $9.90 and the 350 to 400-pound class were $9.80.

In the lighter divisions 150 to 160 pounders sold for $10.15; 140 to i50 130 to 140 pounds, $9.65; 120 to 130 pounds, $9.40; 110

100 to 110 pounds were $8.90. Steer Supply Limited

Supply of steers and heifers was limited and those received in the run of 700 cattle and calves graded mostly common and medium. The market was steady with yesterday's decline, but rather draggy. Cows and bulls were steady. Steers and yearlings ranged from $7 to $8.50, and one load sold for $9.75. Beef cows ranged from $5 to $5.75, the cutter grades from $3.75 to $4.75.

was $6.50. Vealers were steady with yesterday’s opening and the good and choice kinds ranged from $13.50 to $14. The run of 1500 sheep consisted mostly of fed western lambs and yearlings and, wet fleece considered, trading was about steady. ; Good and choice fed western lambs brought $10.25 to $10.50, fed yearlings, $9.50. Slaughter sheep were ‘50 cents higher and the bulk of the slaughter ewes brought $4 to $5.
