nounced today following a meeting 1

of University trustees in Bloomington. He succeeds Mrs. Bertha Clark, who has resigned after 10 years as clerk in the registrar's office and later as registrar. Miss Mary O'Connor was appointed secretary to W. D. Gatch of the Medical School. She has been a member of the medical center staff for the last six years as medical stenographer in the records department, Miss Dorothea Collins, chief clerk in the business office at the Y.-M. C. A, takes the position ot clerk in the registrar’s office. Miss O'Connor is a graduate of St. John's Academy and Miss Collins is a graduate of Ball State Teacher's College. Mr. Helm is an I. U. graduate of the class of 1894. A native of Muncie, he was connected for five vears with the Ball Brothers glass manufacturing company at Muncie and Marion and in Pueblo, Colo. He also has taught in grade and high schools and has served as schools superintendent.

Former School Teacher

He formerly was managing editor part owner of the EducatorJournal, a magazine for teachers, a post which he left in 1524 to accept a position with the Indiana University business offices at Bloomington. The new registrar has heen connected with the medical center here for a number of years. Prior to his appointment as registrar he held the © position of supervisor of student work. Mr. Helm is a member and former officer of the Indiana University Club of Indianapolis.

Women Outnumber Men 2 ~ To 1 in Asking Decrees.

More than twice as many wives were granted divorces than Husbands in Marion County courts during 1936, records disclosed today. A total of 1388 wives were given decrees as compared to 528 husbands, making a total of 1916. This

was 159 more divorces than were granted in 1935. New lawsuits in county courts last year totaled 7127 as compared to 6670 in 1935, records showed. Last year 6669 lawsuits were disposed of ha courts as compared to 7339 in

Marriage licenses more than doubled divorces last year. Licenses to wed totaled 4648, a new all-time record, as compared to 1916 divorces granted.

Theft of a watch set with eight small diamonds was reported to police last night by Mrs. F. B. Mueller, 622 Bosart Ave. Mrs. Mueller said it was taken yesterday morning from her home.
