Hodges Family Observes Stocking - Hanging Tradition.
BY BEATRICE BURGAN Society Editor HEERIO and a Merry Christmas. Life began early today. No late sleepers on Christmas with trees ladened with gifts, brightly packaged and hidden mysteriously for so many days. The Dr. Fletcher Hodges’ family was up bright and early to empty the stockings hung up by every member. This custom, which was a tradition with the adults as well as the children in Mrs. Hodges’ family in New England, continues. The Hodges’ son, Fletcher Hodges Jr., and Mrs. Hodges, with their children, Fletcher IIT and Arthur Carlisle; their other sons, Dr. Francis Hodges and Bradford Hodges, and a daughter, Miss Ruth Hodges, all gathered around to watch each other unwrap gifts. At dinner the Hodges always drink toasts to the relatives not with them, This year they will remember the Hodges’ other daughter, Mrs. Jesse Janes Garrison; Mr. Garrison and their daughter, who are having their Christmas at their home in Hamilton, N. Y. & # The Christmas celebration for Mrs. John W, Kern Sr. began last night when she had her sons, Mayor Kern, and William C. Kern, and their families for a dinner, The dinner was in honor of the grandchildren, Mary Florence, the Wil=liam Kerns’ daughter, and John W. Kern III, the Mayor's son. Other guests included Mrs. Macy Malott, Mrs. William Kern's mother, and Mrs. Benjamin Hitz, This morning Mrs. Kern Sr. went fo Willlam Kern's home to see the distribution of gifts from the Christ mas tree, and at 1 p. m. she is to go to the Mayor's home for dinner.
