Christmas vacation will be a time of intensive study for some 500 high school pupils, according to Central | Library records. The reason is the annual Constitutional Essay contest sponsored by the Hayward-Barcus Post, Amere

Reports at the lie brary today showed that every piece of reference material on the United States Constitution had been 1raned out. | Topics selected for the contest were “James Madison's Influence on {the United States Constitution,’ |“The Bill of Rights” and the “Elasticity of the Constitution.” Indianapolis’ six high schools are participating, Nearly 500 pupils have entered the competition. The poss is to award a medal and a sil= er loving cup for the best essay. Tach high school, through & group of judges, will enter one pers con in the finals. Judges for the final contest are to be selected soon according to Paul C. Stetson, school superintendent. Arsenal Technical High School and Shortridge High School took first honors in 1034 and | 1035, respectively. The contest was inaugurated in 1034. Essays must not be submitted later than Jan. 31. Announcement of the winner is to be made during Civic Heroes’ Week, starting Feb. 12,
