First Real Christmas in Years

OO. Dec. 18 —Thirty-eight thousand Ohio coal

miners today looked forward to their happiest Christmas in nine years.

They had regular employment again at wages far above those of the

lean years when industrial warfare stalked the Ohio valley.

For them, depression began in 1927, when coal production in Ohio
