CUPID'S BUREAU |

) Tinted Toe and Finger Nails

REPORTS BOOM IN MARRIAGES

Bring Husbands Quickly, Bureau Head States.

By 'nited Press NEW YORK, Dec, 18 ~The Mare riage Brokers Association-——its busts ness booming—reported today that tinted toe and finger nails are get

! | ting girls more and better hus | bands,

The M. B. A. opened its annual | convention in Times Square Tem- | ple, its members convinced that | otherwise the qualities sought for lin brides haven't changed much | over the years. “Every year there is more busi- | ness,” announced Rabbi Nathan | Wolf, secretary of the organization. “And look—I am too old to be mod-est--it is very seldom that a marriage arranged by a broker doesn't last.’ Dr. Wolf laughed at suggestions that the day might come when hroker-maneuvered marriages might he outmoded

Rup Up With Times

“Never,” he said, “because Wwe keep up with the times, We are realists. For example, the girls savy, ‘Do men like painted nails?’ I say, ‘I.isten, they want to marry a lady, but a pretty one. So make yourself beautiful. Ruby, rose—they look nice, So color your nails if vou want to. Even your toe nails, It will be a surprise for him.” “It 1s ho different from inde~ pendent marriages,” Wolf said. “Tn the broker's office they are franker, maybe. But the man, what a romantic he is! ‘She is beautiful,” he | says, ‘Oh, boy, she is an angel.’ Ah, That is the way of it. What would happen to the silly man with« out the protection of the broker, I ask you?”

Should Be Beautiful

The M. B. A. believes a girl should be beautiful, young in comparison to the man's age, well-educated and have a dowry of some sort. Dr, Wolf runs into trouble on the late ter point. He explained: “I say to a girl, ‘T know a young man. He has a fine delicatessen business. What will vou bring?’ She is surprised. She draws herself up—so. She says, ‘Why, I am bring« ing myself.’ That is the way. Well, the young men are getting a little smarter, I think. I tell the young | women that. anyway. Maybe it will help. If they don’t bring a dowry to this partnership, they better bring a good disposition.” The M. B. A. doesn’t object if a lady knocks off five years from her actual age when she starts looking for a mate. But trouble begins if any one tries to slip by a few more years for good measure. “The average they knock off is 2” said Dr. Wolf, wearily
