ON '37 PROGRAM * OF BOY SCOUTS
Two Executives to Be Added; Wage Increase to Be Granted Office Staff.
Indianapolis Boy Scouts today had before them the 1937 objective program as outlined vesterday by Council President Wallace Q. Lee at an executive board meeting. The program includes approximately 5 per cent increase in executive and office staff salaries; ems=ployment of two adaitional full-time executives: appointment of a mem-=-bership committee; creation of an emergency fund; construction of a new hut and a lagoon at the Scout reservation, and acquiring of 80 acres south of the camp. Dwight M. Ramsey, Chicago, regional director, presented the first Sea Scout charter awarded in Ine dianapolis and was the main speak=e The new hut unit is for boys 15 and over and is called Sea Scout Ship Indianapolis. It is affiliated with Troop 21, and Cub Pack 6, of the Broadway M. E. Church. Committee Chairmen Committee chairmen named were: A. G. Ruddell, past presidents’ advisory committee; Earl R. Conder, executive committee, J. Frank Holmes, finance; C. Otto Janus, camp; Earl W. Kiger, civic service; Walter 8. Greenough, publicity; Robert Hendrickson, cubbing; Emmett C. Belzer, promotion and public relations; F. Elbert Glass, troop organization and extension; Delamar McWorkman, leadership and training; Dr. Chester A. Stayton, health and safety: L. L. Dickerson, reading: Irving Williams, court of honor; Harper J. Ransburg, senior scout committee, and E. W. Harris, scouter and membership campaign committee. Mr. Ramsey said in his address that graduates of Indianapolis scouting now hold many executive positions in the nation's business. He said that 12 from here have tull-time positions in the scouting movement in the country. Mr. Lee urged that the new Sea Scout unit take full advantage of the marine armory under construc= tion. He pointed out, too, that the construction of the lagoon, with WPA labor, would provide a place for Sea Scout practice in the reser= vation. A letter from Rep. Louis Lud= low, praising the scouting moves= ment and comending the Indian= apolis unit, was read to the meeting.
$2.000,000 BUILDING PROGRAM ANNOUNCED
By United Press HOLLYWOOD, Dec. 18.—-Metro=-Goldwyn-Mayer announced today that a $2,000,000 building program, which will begin within the next few weeks, was “made necessary by the company’s unprecedented production schedule.” Included in the new plan is the erection of a five-story office building covering a complete city block, six new sound stages and projection rooms, two dozen cutting rooms, new sound building, a modern gymsnasium for workers and players, new camera department, photographic | labotatory, new garage and repair shop, doubling of dressing-room space, new property building and re= modeling of the lumber mill.
