The picture is different today There are seven free tuberculosis clinics employing nine full-time nurses in various parts of the city. City health officials have urged all persons, regarditss of whether they can pay for the services, to have examinations at these clinics if they have been in contact with the disease or suspect they have symptoms.

Now it has 260 beds, including 50 for children When the new Flower Mission Hospital on the City Hospital grounds is opened, 100 additional beds will be made available to city patients. It is estimated 135 nurses, in addition to the nine who devote all of their time to this work. are tak- | INR an active part in reporting and treating of these cases. Many Organizations Help
Joining in this work are hoards of health. ecivie and municipal organizations, schools the Flower Mission Society and the Marion County Tuberculosix Association. Emphasis is being placed also on disease prevention. In addition to |! instructions to public and parochial school children, the tuberculosis association maintains the Julia Jameson Nutrition Camp at Bridgeport Since its opening in 1928. 554 frail children have been cared for there. and not one of that number has died from tuberculosis or any preventable disease, the organization's records show. The camp is expectIMR to care for 100 children next summer. Most of them are taken from sunless homes in the city's industrial districts. All co-operating agencies are directing their efforts to discovering and treating of the disease while the patients still are infected only In the primary stages. Through tuberculin tests of school and other groups, doubtful and early cases can be secregated and treated. Phvsiclans repore such treatment is suecessful if begun at once Ultimate goal of all these groups 1s to make tuberculosis a rare malady
