» Controller showing an increase of - $167,746 over last year, the total .. revenue increase amounts to .. $150,936, a report for the first 11 months showed today. ’ Traffic stickers led the increase, with the City Clerk reporting - $21,305 collected since Jan, 1, com-

© pared with $9739 during the same ‘period last year. The “fixless” Sticker is responsible for the increase, police said. City gross revenue for 1936 to date totaled $3,960,245, including a temporary $1,000,000 loan.

Despite a long drive to enforce

"- the dog licensing ordinance, receipts .. for tags fell from $6088 last year . to $4641 collected this year.

Circus Revenue Dips

Tanbark romance apparently has turned just a little sour here, for

". only three circuses obtained permits

during 1936 while six were taken out last year. Dancing is less popular, or more

persons are attending each dance, for the Controller's report showed only 619 permits were taken this

"year, paying $2556, while 870 groups © held dances during the same pe-

riod in 1935 and paid $3165 for the privilege. A collection drive on poultry dealers brought an increase: in licenses from 162 to 263 while re- + ceipts rose from $3504 last year to iy during the first 11 months of 36

Two franchise payments brought the city $3476 from the Street Railways Co. and $6000 from the Indiana Bell Telephone Co.

Vehicle licenses, chiefly of taxicab registrations under the new ordinance, increased from $14,878 in 1935 to $35,336 this year. Total license receipts this year were $116,230, compared with $105,386 last year, the report showed.

Charles D. Babcock (above) has been elected president of the Lawyers’ Association of Indianapolis. Sherwood Blue was named vice president; Charles W. Holder,

secretary, and Floyd R. Mannon,

treasurer. Directors are Davis Harrison, Harry L. Gause and Fred E. Shick.
