TOWNSEND AND ~ AIDS CONSIDER POLICY PLANS
Report Next Governor to Act .on Appointments Of Bureau Heads. . Suggestions of various state department heads, legislators and pol-
iticians were being considered today by Gov.-elect Townsend as he con-
tinued his study of policies for the
next four years. Mr. Townsend began interviewing state . leaders yesterday afternoon about fiscal and legislative affairs. Dick Heller, who is to be Mr. Townsend's executive secretary, is handling the bulk of the patronage lems in his office at Democratic State Committee.
| Review Appointments
Although department heads are to name their own employes, it is expected that Mr. Heller and Mr. Townsend will review many appointments before they are approved. Mr. Townsend is to make two important addresses this week, tomorrow before the Indiana State Chamber of Commerce and Thursday before the public conference on gross income tax revision. In those speeches Mr. Townsend may reveal further his ideas on income tax revision, it is reported. No definite announcement on ad-ministration-approved legislation is expected until the Democratic leglslators caucus Dec. 18 at Turkey Run State Park.
ANNOUNCE DEADLINE TO FILE FOR TESTS
Closing dates for applications for five civil service examinations were announced today by Frank J. Boatman, Civil Service Examiners’ Board secretary here. Applications for substitute village mail carrier, Beech Grove, are to close Dec. 19. Jan. 4 has been cet as closing date for four other examinations. They are senior psychiatrist, female; interne, and junior resident psychiatrist, St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Washington, and Soil Conservation Service biolcgist.
