“that he had won the Corn King title at the International Livestock tan and Hay Exposition at Chicago?”

“No. No, I didn’t. You see I was feeding the stock. And I forgot to listen in on the radio. Gee! I'm glad to hear it.” Robert said his father and mother and an uncle and an aunt had leit by.auto for Chicago early yesterday, faking 10 ears of prize corn with

“He said something about hoping he would win,” Robert said, “but nothing in a boastful way, you know. Other people in ‘this county have won corn awards at fhe International before. Besides, 1 guess we beat the drought because the field was below the dam of North Creek. 1%. just a little creek, you know, nof, on the map or anything.” Robert said his father farms 145 acres which he bought from savings during share cropping days. He was born in Tipton County and has been farming since he was 21. He's now 46. Mr. Curry entered corn in 1933 and won the reserve championship, Robert said, and was unsuccessful with an entry in 1935. Robert was

and, even though he didn’t hear the radio report, knows a little about how his father felt. Betty Ann, 5, his sister, is staying with relatives, as is Robert after he takes care of the stock in his father’s absence. Robert said he attends Sharpsvitle High School. He explained tha his father had 33 acres of corn ou “We had some wheat out,” he
