- Top Series of . City Pin Loops
Totals 681 to Take Honors; Rolles Printing Team Registers 3017.
BY BERNARD HARMON
Mediocre scoring prevailed in most loops of the city last night, Jack unt and Mike Fox of the Patrick nry League being the lone pasers to pass the 650 mark. The high scorers, teammates on Beer quintet, staged a race for honors during the initial games, but. fHunt proved strongest over the stretch and wound up with a 681 against Fox's 663. The former had games of 189, 239 and 253, while Fox tossed 212, 214 and 237 in his series. The combniation boosted the team to a 2980 total, good for a pair of triumphs over Office. Games of 936, 1000 and 1044 netted it the big series, while a 1023 gave the Office its lone win. Snyder's 624 was top solo series for the losers.
Three other teams flashed a pair of 600 shooters. Walt Holtman and Harold Rohr turned in 628 and 600 for Half & Half, which blanked Ales; Arnold Pfeiffer and Neil King conected for 607 and 605 in the ‘ team’s double win over Warehouse, which had Collins and Eddie Stark with 623 and 613 as its top scorers. High scores were lacking in the remaining contest, in which Kegs nabbed a shutout over Bottles. | The third perfect 300 game of the _ season in league play was reportcd last night, Bob Morris having obtained the necessary 12 strikes in the Indiana Bell Traffic League at the Indianapolis Athletic Club on Monday night. Inasmuch as .the loop has not been sanctioned, Mor1is will not receive the usual American Bowling Congress award. Team Totals 3017
The five top solo counts of the St. Philip No. 1 League at the St. #f Philip Alleys came in the Rolles oN Printing-Falls City Hi-Bru match, 5 won by the former, two to one. With Chuck Markey’s 638, Lou Ostheimer’s 617 and John Barrett's .615, the winners posted a 3017 total, good for city-wide team honors of the evening. Eddie Ten Eyck and Milt : Wimberly turned in 605s for the losing Brus. The Rolles team used i games of 943, 1018 and 1056 for its or leading total. Other matches of the loop showed Lieber Beers in a triple win over Ten Pin|Inn, and Michaelis-McCa-hill and Cook’s Goldblume nabbing two victories each over Tic Toc Club a and Beck's Coal and Coke. 8 Six honor totals were registered ® 3 by members of the Pritchett Recre1 ation . League, with Eddie Brehob and Lou Skinner battling for. the top berth. The former, through games of 245, 163 and 238 chalked up a 646, while Skinner totaled 643, from 227, 183 and 233. Bob Bollinger’s 630, combined with Brehob’s topper proved helpful in Coca Colg’s games of 979, 945 and 1034{ good for a 2058 and a two-game double victory over Deschler’s Monogram.
Hoereth-Galbreath Click
The well-known doubles combination of Al Hoereth and Barney Galbreath clicked with totals of 613 and 610, that aided Triange Bowling Shirts in its odd-game decision over Fendrick Restau- . rants. Bill Shine hit the 600 mark on the nose for the remaining henor series, his Dransfield Taverns scoring a shutout over ? Tndignapolis
¥a » Sie
League Alleys, the former turning in a 625 and Bisesl 605. Weber Milk Co. and Hudepohl Beer registered shutouts over Sugar Bowl and Coca Cola,
while Klee & Cole and Holcomb & Hoke red Indianapolis Toilet andApron and SevenUp twice.
In the Pennsylvania Recreation |g League at the Pennsylvania, 600s were turned in by Harold Deal, Carl Moxley and Zeke Heckman. The former had 620, Moxley 617 and Heckman 605. nd Containers and Berghoff Beer emerged wi clean slates, having won shutou over Bailey Insurance and Old Gold Cigarettes. Other team clashes were decided over the two-to-one oye.
Ahearn Leads Commercial
Leo Ahearn was the leading scorer of the Commercial League matches at ‘the Illinois, a 633 giving him the edge over opponents. Stonecipher’s 634 was good for honors of the Community League at the Uptown. Pastimers of other loops in action during the evening failed to touch 600. Mildred Ruschaupt’s games of 173, 206 and 181 gave her a 560 to-
tal and honors over feminine pas-|
timers of the Gray, Gribben & Gray League, in action at the Antlers Alleys. Marie Zook with 552 outscored rivals of the Tuesday Night Ladies’ League, rolling at the Pritchett Alleys. Top scorers of other leagues were: U. S. Tire Co. (Pennsylvania), Torrence, 585; ‘Parkway No. (Parkway), Schaub, 585; Rotary (Indiana), Stenger, 578; Indianapolis Power and Light Co. (Fountain Square), Weber, 560; Auto Transportation (Central), Whitesides, 585: Indianapolis Water Co. (Pritchett’s), Henley, 572; Related Foods (Illinois), McCahill, 577.
