Address Northwest Congress Today.

The northwest regional congress of the Church of the United Brethren in Christ opened today at the First United Brethren Church, Park and Walnut-sts, Purpose of the congress, according to Bishop H. H. Fout, regional president, is “the discovery, enlistment, training and release of all available resources for the reaching of spiritual *objectives and realization of our denominational aim.” The program was to open with an address by B. H. Cain, Réchester, Ind. Principal speaker of the morning was to be Maude Ballington Booth, New York, nationally known prison worker. A ministers’ and a laymen’s seminar were to be held also, Included on this afternoon's program are J. F. Hatton, Detroit; 3S. A. Wells, Fort Wayne; W. R. Montgomery, Hartford City; L. L. Baughman, Bloomington, Ill.; Forest A. Reed, Terre Haute; Carrie M. Grant; L. A. Rider, Westfield, Ill.; Frank A. Reagin, Terre Haute; Charles L. Raymond, Huntington, and Mrs. J. | Hal Smith. Dr. Robert G. Lee, Memphis, Tenn. is to give the sermon address, “Jesus of Nazareth,” tonight following evangelistic gospel song service, evening prayer and special music. Tomorrow's program begins with a morning watch at 8:30 a. m, directed by Mrs. Smith. Prof. D. H. Gilliatt, Indianapolis, is to lead devotional services. The congress continues through Thursday morning.

PLANT IS REOPENED AFTER REMODELING

Times Special VINCINNES, Ind. Nov. 17.—The Blackford Window Glass Co. plant opened here this week after having been idle four months for remodeling. One department employing 125 men started work when the plant opened and the remaining departments are expected to be in operation within two weeks. The addition of a cutting room will increase the output by 25 per cent, R. J. Dognaux, secretary, said. Working of all departments at full time operation will add approximately $5000 to the weekly pay rolls, he estimated.

STATE SUES INSULL UTILITY FOR $26,000

Times Special WILMINGTON, Del, Nov. 17—

The Delaware Federal District Court had before it today the $20,000 claim which the State of Indiana brought against United Midland Co., an Insull utility in réceivership ‘here: The claim was heard yesterday by Senator Daniel Hastings sitting as special master. Indiana is attempting to enforce liability against a holding company operating within its borders as a foreign corporation. Atty. Gen. Philip Lutz Jr.,, headed the legal staff representing Indiana.

E. R. Bebout, campaign manager for Otis K. Karns, defeated Eleventh District Republican Congressional candidate, apparently believes that politics and bookkeeping should be mixed. In his expense statement on file with the Election Board today, Mr Bebout listed $96 donations and only $83 expenditures. A notation on the statement said he had apportioned the $13 surplus back to the donors. Mr, Karns listed $26.75 as his personal campaign expenses. Other candidates who filed expense statements were: Dr. Ethelbert Wilson, successful Democratic candidate for county coroner, $350; Ollie Bach, who was elected :tate representative on the Democratic ticket, $21.50; Edward Wakelam, successful Democratic candidate for state representative, $115, and Thomas C. CONSIDERING MERGER OF TUGWELL’S UNIT

By United Press WASHINGTON, Nov. 17.—President Roosevelt has been asked to consider a merger of Rexford G. Tugwell’s Resettlement Administration with the Department of Agriculture, it was learned today. The change could be accomplished by executive order, under the 1933 Economy Act which permits an independent agency to be

.| transferred to another department.

The President, it was understood, has been urged to issue such an ordef before the new Congress convenes Jan. 5. It was expected that any transfer would be accompanied by abolition of some most controversial and criticised activities, such as the land purchase program, now nearing completion, and the subsistence homesteams division.

| TRUCK COLLIDE

Driver of Car Reported in Serious Condition at ~ City Hospital.

One person was reported in serious condition in City Hospital today and four others were treated for minor injuries as the result of a traffic accident last night. Earl Quinn, 37, of 1302 Ewing-st, received a possible brain concussion when the automobile he was driving collided with a tractor-trailer truck at Rural and E. Michigan-sts shortly before midnight. Four passengers in Quinn’s machine were cut and bruised. They were John McGinley, 36, of 220 East-ern-av;' Miss Mary McGinley, 36, of 521 N. Rural-st, Mrs. Joann McGin=ley, 32, of 220 Eastern-av, and Mrs.

Thomas O'Gara, 38, of 223 East-ern-av.
