‘Manion Says 15 Per Cent
Increase in Indiana Crop Receipts Aids Business.

Mr. Manion pointed out that this . «increase largely was responsible for: ! 1. New automobile registrations *increased from 34,051 in 1932 to 109,+038 in 1935, a gain of 220 per cent. 2. Sales of new, ordinary paid-up ‘life insurance in Indiana jumped from $112,769,000 in 1933 to $126,357,000 in 1935, an increase of 21 per cent. June sales in 1936 aggre- - gated $11,700,000, an increase of 8 per cent over sales in. June of last year. Savings Increase

Savings, including time deposits and postal savings deposited ‘in banks in Indiana, aggregated * $246,585,000, an advance of $86,668,000 or 54 per cent for the year closing June 29, 1935, in comparison swith the year ending June 30, 1933. « 4 The number of commercial failures in Indiana has declined from 1932, when such failures numbered 563, through 1935, when ‘they stood at 160. 5. Definite improvement is evi"dent in the building industry in «Indiana. For 1933, the value of «building permits in 16 important ‘cities of the state stood at about * $4,302,000. By 1935 the value had risen to some $10,620,000, an in‘crease of 147 per cent. For the first :&ix months of the current year the «value of permits in these cities to.taled about $10,893,000 or $273,000 ore than in the whole year of + 1935.
Employment Gains 6. Electric refrigerator sales ot ‘household models in Indiana in‘creased from 14,011 in 1932 to 40,488 “in 1935, a gain of 189 per cent. 7.
