275 Students Are of Legal Age to Vote Next Month, Report.
Times Special : GREENCASTLE, Ind, Oct. 15— One hundred De Pauw students have registered to vote in the Nov. 3 state and national elections. Of this number, 77 are registerea in Greencastle, and the remaining 23 will vote in their home constituencies. Approximately 275 De Pauw students are of legal age to vote, it has been estimated unofficially. The only political club active on the campus now is the Democrats’ Roosevelt First Voters League. An organization meeting of a Young Republican Club was held last night, however. Sentiment on the campus has been shown to favor Landon by approximately 3 to 1 in straw votes conducted by the De Pauw student newspaper,
Action was awaited today on a petition signed by 677 De Pauw University students asking a fourday Thanksgiving holiday instead of the one-day recess scheduled. The petition was presented to President Clyde E. Wildman, whose only comment was that he would present it to the faculty at its next meeting. De Loss Walker, associate editor of Liberty Magazine, is to be the Old Gold Day chapel speaker at De Pauw University. He graduated from De Pauw in 1912, The chapel program is an annual feature of Old Gold Day.
