mixed chorus The new music is ready for lease to the public, ‘Matinee Musicale is, reserving first right to its own collection. These two gifts have been added to the previous collection from the Mendelssohn Choir, the Matinee Musical's choral section, and other Qrganizations. Most of the music has been used by singing societies. and has: been given to the library for safe-keeping, better classification | and public use.

President to Be Honored

The first of the Matinee Musical's meetings this season is set for Iriday, Oct. 9, in Ayres’ Auditorium. It is to be in honor of ihe society's | president. Miss Carolyn Richardson, and will feature two groups of songs | by Mrs. Helen Thomas Bucher, soprano, and music by Quintet: Misses Martha Rucker, Frances Wishard Treanor. . Mrs, Bucher will be making her first concert appearance since coming to Indianapolis last year. Soloist at the Second Presbyterian ‘Church, Mrs. Bucher has appeared with the Chicago Civic Opera Com- | pany and has sung extensively in| concert and on the air. She is to do a scene and aria from Verdi's “La Traviata,” an aria from Charpentier's “Louise,” ana songs by Mendelssohn, de Falla, Grieg, Wolf and Benedict, Mrs. Zelma Abbott is to be accompanist. The Orloff players are to do the Franck Quintet in F Minor.

Opera Seminar Tomorrow

First of the Arthur Jordan Conservatorv's new opera seminars is to be held at 7:30 tomorrow nighth in the school’s main building, 1204 N. Delaware-st. The illness of Dr. Robert Heger-Goetzl, who will preside at the seminars, postponed the scheduled opening on Monday night. Dr. Heger-Goetzl, who conducted opera in principal Eurqpean music centers for 10 years, will direct the seminar in a study of opera literature and composition, _ A second group is to meet at 11 a. m. Tuesdays. The combined sections will present HumperdincK's “Hansel and Gretel” in December,

‘Ramona’ Held Over for Second Week at Theater Here.

Manager Ken Collins of the Apollo today announced that “Ramona,” the color picturization of Helen Hunt Jackson’s novel, is to be held over

a second week.

On Oct. 9, “Midsummer Night's Dream” is to open for a week. This played last summer in Indianapolis at road show prices. Janet Gaynor, Loretta Young, Constance Bennett and Simone Simon will appear next in “Ladies in Love,” opening Oct. 16. Marion Davies and, Clark Gable folléw Oct. 23, in “Caih and Mabel.” Shirley Temple begins a week in “Dimples.” “The Charge of the Light Brigade” is to open Nov. 6, and on Nov. 13 “Three Men On a Horse” begins a week,

“The Marriage Proposal,” by Anton Chekhov. The play will be presented at the annual home-coming celebration Oct. 31. Tryouts for parts in the play will be held tomorrow under the direction of Mrs. Jane Osburn Bruce, instructor. The play is a one-act farce and has a cast of thres persons. The opening play will be followed by a series of noontide productions and a semester major production in November. Dave Thompson, president, is in charge of Thespis activities this fall.
