POWER UTILITY STUDYING DATA ON NEW RATES
Proposal for Slash in Cost "to Public Believed in Making.
“The Indianapolis Power and Light Co. today is studying three rate analyses offered by Public Counsel Francis K. Bowser after the second preliminary conference between city and state. officials and company representatives. Although the nature of the alternate rate schedules was not disclosed, it was assumed they are directed at the lower bracket of approximately 65,000 customers whom Mr, Bowser said would not he benefited by the original company proposal for. reductions. . The present rate of 5.75 cenls per kilowatt hour for users of 50 or less kilowatt hours would be unchanged ‘under the company proposal sub‘mitted Monday.
Public Hearing Scheduled
The conferences have been arranged in an attempt to bring about an agreement between the three groups before a public hearing scheduled Sept. 30 before the Public. Service Commission. The company has been ordered to show cause why rate reductions should not be made. Both the commission and the company have spent more than two years compiling inventory and income figures for rate making. Mr. Bowser said his three analyses are not to be considered as rate proposals, since no complete figures on inventory or income have been completed by the Public Service Commission. He presented the rates to ascertain their effect on company income. No future meeting date was set at the conference yesterday.

FARM IS TO BECOME PARK, JOSEPH SAYS
A group of Weset Side civic leaders have been assured by Jackiel W. Joseph, Park Board president, that the Harding farm property acquired by the city will be developed as soon as possible. The committee, which included members of the Tibbs-av-Eagle Creek Civic League and the West Side Business and Professional Men’s Association explained that it had been rumored that property was to be used as a tree nursery. Mr. Joseph, denying the report, said the land would be used as a park only.
