The centennial's opening is vo be hailed with a mixed chorus concert of 60 voices from the Berne Mennonite Church at the Jay County Fairground at 2 p. m, Bishop Edwin Holt Hughes, senior bishop for the Washington, D. C, area of the Methodist Episcopal Church, is to be the principal speaker at. the services. The chorus, under the Ileader< ship of Freeman Burkhalter, is composed of singers who won first orizes at a Chicago musical festival,

Plane Contest Scheduled

A model airplane contest, with scale models to be entered by Sept. 29, is to be held Oct. 3. Prize awards total $35. Michael Igoe, former congress man-at-large trom Illinois and now United States District Attorney at Chicago, is to speak on “Democratic State Day” at the centennial Sept, 30. A parade is to precede his ade dress at 3:30 p. m. Congressman Glen Griswold of the Fifth District is to crown Porte land’s queen on Sept. 27. ) The final day of the fair, Oct. 3, Hamilton Fish, New York congress= man, is to be the speaker at a Republican rally.
