Fuel, Light Less Food costs rose 5.8 per cent on the average during the three-month period, while clothing costs dropped less than 1 per cent, fuel and light costs declined 2.2 per cent, and rents moved upward. In three cities, Indianapolis, Kangas City and Birmingham, an increase of over 10 per cent in food was reported, while the smallest rise was in Los Angeles with food costs increasing only 2.8 per cent. Despite the fact that Indianapolis was one of three cities in which food costs increased more than 10 per cent, the total of items still is below the index average for the 32 cities, the Labor Department figures showed. The average for all -cities for the quarterly period was 82, while in Indianapolis it was 81.4, despite the large food cost increase, An increase of 2.7 per cent for all items during the quarter was reported Th
