Mrs. Bertita Harding to Spend Remainder of Summer Here; Lecture at Mexican Capital Made During Visit.
BY BEATRICE BURGAN Society Editor
RS. BERTITA Leonarz Harding, author of “The Phantom Crown” and “Royal Purple,” has traveled far and wide but she made her first airplane tour this summer when she visited abroad. Seeing Germany, Czechoslovakia, Austria and Hungary from the sky provided a new thrill for Mrs. Harding, whose books and lectures attest
to her impressionable nature. She admittedly never ceases to have her curiosity and imagination moved “by the foreign countries to which she ventures. She flew from Berlin over the Olympic village, on- to Vienna and Budapest. gi After she returned here on the Bremen, she joined her husband, Jack Harding, and motored to Mexico City, her former home. There she lectured before the American and English colony. She was as excited as a seloel girl to have tea on the same terrace where Col. Charles Lindbergh met his future wife, Anne Morrow, whose father, the late Dwight Morrow, was American ambassador to Mexico. Mrs. Harding visited the embassy as a luncheon guest of Ambassador and Mrs. Josephus Daniels. She is home now for the remainder of the summer. ” ” ” «While Mr. and Mrs. James F. Carroll and their sons are away for the summer, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Tharp are living in their home in Golden Hill Miss Betty Tharp, their daughter, visits the Woodstock Club frequently to play tennis. She is among the young women ‘concentrating on outfitting themselves for college classes next month, for she is to return to Smith College for her senior year Sept. 27.
