By United Press| CALLANDER, Ont. Aug. 10.— Oliva Dionne, now a successful business man, has made peace with the Ontario Provincial government which assumed charge of the quintuplets shortly after their birth two years ago.
Papa Dionne, an embittered, sullen dissenter from the governmental act making his daughters wards of the King and preserving for them a fortune of approximately one-half million dollars, met with Welfare Minister David Croll yesterday. Their differences were settled, it was reported, and today Dionne appeared at his refreshment stand beaming and smiling. Dionne agreed to sell to the government at a nominal cost, property he owned, adjoining the Dafoe nursery. He agreed to removs gasoline pumps he had installed on his refreshment stand property, facing the nursery. In return, Mr. Croll, chief guardian of the quintuplets under the guardianship act which he wrote, promised to replace three of Dionne’s milch cows which died of poison last month and, it was understood, agreed - to .render the

AIDS IN CAPTURE OF AUTO THEFT SUSPECT
Quick work on the part of Don Johnson, attendant at a filling station at 320 W. Michigan-st, resulted in the arrest of an alleged auto thief early today before the owner of the stolen car missed it. Mr. Johnson telephoned a license number to police after a driver speeded away without paying for gasoline. Six minutes later patrolmen in a squad car sighted the fleeing motorist and, after a chase of 28 blocks, caught him.

PROWLER ‘TORTURES NORTH SIDE WOMAN
A prowler who allegedly entered a North Side apartment and severely tortured a woman resident was being sought by police today. The victim, whofe name police declined to disclose, reported that she was awakened by the prowler in her bedroom and that he beat her into unconsciousness. Police said the woman was .severely cut and bruised. The prowler entered through the front door of the apartment, which had been left ynlocked by mistake, police said.

Lindbergh presented their artificial heart for study today to the Fourth International Congress of Experimental Cytology at Christiansborg Castle. The apparatus keeps cells and organs alive outside the body. Dr. Carrel has been experimenting on it for 25 years, and the young flier played an important part in its final mechanical perfection. Col. bergh did not address the gathering.
ASSASSINATION PLOT REVEALED IN JAPAN
By United Press TOKYO, Aug. 10. — Minoru Kuroda, 25, was arrested at Fukuoka today, charged with plotting to assassinate Gen. Juichi Terauchi, war minister, and Gen. Kazushige Ugaki, retiring Governor 6f Korea. It was said that Kuroda was associated

In a survey completed today the United Press learned that .about $13,000,000 will go to naval projects. Army expenditures are expected to top $7,000,000. Along shores where volcanic rock and lava once bombarded any interloper, a terrifying new volcano of big guns, bombing planes, searchlights, rumbling trucks and other war paraphernalia are being readied to explode with destructive force at first approach of an znemy. Roads are being built over mountains to link strategic centers. Two highway projects on the island of Oahu alone will cost $1,000,000, and will be primarily for army use.
