‘U. S. AIDS MEXICAN IN APOLOGY DEMAND
By United Press LOS ANGELES, Aug. 10.—Mexican Consul Ricardo Hill today received the support of the State Department in his demands for complete satisfaction from Police Chief James Davis for an alleged insult from a Los Angeles police officer. Mr. Hill communicated with State Department officials and his em_bassy in Washington after allegedly . being insulted by Lieut. Peter Delgado, Spanish-speaking officer assigned to accompany the National Mexican Tipica Orchestra, which has been playing in Los Angeles for 10 days. The _ incident occurred Saturday night when Delgado was approached to provide transportation for the orchestra. Mr. Hill said the officer swore at him and tried to strike him. Delgado denied the charges.
ITALIAN CELEBRATION - TO BEGIN TOMORROW
A typical Italian midway has been constructed in Stevens-st for the opening tomorrow night of the annual Italian festa of Holy Rosary parish. The celebration is to continue each night until Saturday, time of the feast of Assumption. Italian gongs and dances in costumes are to be staged every evening following spaghetti suppers at 5 pn. m. audeville acts and displays are to the midway entertainment.

A week's conference of Indiana Works Progress Administration edutional directors was to open today in WPA headquarters here. Eleven district supervisors are to ‘report on class problems, and these : reports are to form the basis of dis‘cussions.
