PROTEST FILED BY ASSOCIATION

Action Branded ‘Unfair’ by Restaurant Group.

| The Indiana State Restaurant - Association, Inc., today formally protested the recent milk price rise fo the State Milk Control Board, | the Marion County milk administrafor and the attorney general. ” It charged that prices to restaurants and consumers were raised without “due notice or hearing”; “that it is manifestly. unfair and gal to set up such control over prices in a board composéd entirely of persons who will profit by their own decisions, with no consumer representation.” It also charged “that the rules of the board and prices fixed by it have actually worked to defeat the interition of the act as stated in Section 1—‘protection of public health and prevention of demoralizing trade practices.’ ~ /This is evidenced by admission of the board members that consumption had declined and that some unscrupulous persons, in order to maintain profits, are serving bulk milk rebottled, that cream has been reduced in strength by addition of whole milk, and many other devices have been resorted to, all of which are directly opposed to ‘protection of public health and prevention of demoralizing trade practices.’”
