IN APARTMENT RENT INCREASE

Association Takes . Action to . Raise Rates on 30-Day Notice

A resolution that rents be increased on apartments affiliated with the Apartment Owners Association of Indianapolis was ap-

proved at an association luncheon yesterday in the Hotel Washington.

The resolution stipulated that tenants be given a 30-day notice of proposed increases, Several members pointed out that rents at a humber of apartment buildings are already on a more equitable basis and will not be advanced at this time. Most of the increases are expected to be made by Sept. 15. B. 8. Drake, association president, told members that apartment rents in Indianapolis today are generally 42 per cent below the level of 1923 to 1925. “We feel that an increase in rents this fall is opportune, just and fair,” he said. Anouncement was made that the annual association picnic for members and their guests is to be held Aug. 8 in Forest Park, Noblesville.
