Reports from Republican headquarters at Topeka’ indicated that the governor is not worrying about his radia delivery, despite the fact that his opponent in the coming campaign is credited with having « “perfect rado voice.” He has told advisors that he only wishes to have his personality, as his friends know: it, reach the American. radio public.

Every major interruption in the summer's radio schedules have affectéd Bing Crosby. First the Republican National Convention, then the Democratic’ conclave, afier that the Louis-Schmeling fight and now the Landon notification ceremonies tonight. Political programs may annoy some broadcasters and listeners, but an interruption to Bing is just a week's vacation—with pay.
Bob Burns; Bing’s bazooka-blow-ing companion, also is vacationing this week, and, incidentally living up to his reputation as the “Arkansas traveler.” He is due in Dallas, Tex., tomorrow for two days of personal appearances. .Monday he is to be in Little Rock, Ark. for the “world premiere” of his first movie, “Rhythm on the Range,” and will stay over Tuesday as a guest of Gov. J. M, Futrell at the Arkansas Centennial. The next day he is scheduled to go to work in Hollywood on his second picture, “The Big Broadcast of 1837." 3360 miles, all by air,

This “guest artist” business works both ways. ' Martin M. ' Clinton, WIRE'S Indiana Traffic Safety Forum program director, invited Capt. George Townsend of the fire départment’s rescue ‘squad to be guest speaker on tomorrow’s Forum broadcast. So Capt. Townsend turned right around and invited his host for a ride onthe squad truck. Mr. Clinton went around yesterday for one ride, stayed all day and reported a swell time. The broadcast is to move up to 1:15 p. m. tomorrow in place of its lt 1 o'clock spot. os » »
Benny Fields will bid a temporary farewell to radio, which started him on his comeback climb, when he appears as guest master of ceremonies on the Tomorrow's Headliners program at 9 o'clock tonight over WFBM. * He is to entrain this week for Hollywood for a part in “The Big Broadcast of 1937,” that haven of vacationing broadcasters. Benny's 5:30 p. m. broadcast niche i§ being filled by Fray and Baum. ” os »
The Good Will Court, which is to replace Major Bowes and his amateurs in September, seems about to blossom into another radio vogue, with a consequent crop of imitators. The program, now heard on WGN and the Mutual network, already has a large following, and the coming fall will give.it a nation-wide NBC hearing. If you haven't heard it, the Good Will Court brings all sorts of troubled people before the microphone to tell their stories and receive advice from a judge who has volunteered his services for the evening, Some simply take advantage of a large audience to air their le beeause they enjoy it; others are foolish as well as loquacious, like the woman who spent 40 cents in car fare to complain about her landlord’s refusal to replace a 26-cent stove handle. But there is also some real tragedy. Scores of fan letters asking advice gave A. L. Alexander the idea for the court, which went on the air in March, 1935. Mr. Alexander, who has been responsible for the Bowery Mission, Man: in the Street and other human interest programs, said he had a lot of difficulty at first in finding people willing to broadcast - their private affairs in return for advice. “I haunted night courts,” he reated, “talked to bums on the street, telephoned people who wrote me letters. For the first four or five weeks nearly every case heard was one I had brought in myself. We had a hard time getting judges to come to the program and give the advice, too.” After the first dilemmas were settled, the bar association objected to the judges’ appearances on a commercial program. After much argu. ment, that obstacle acle was ironed out.
