while the St. Louis Car the Chicago Cubs fight for place in the National. Eastern American League clubs are entertaining their Western rivals while the Western National teams

are being invaded by their Eastern |

opponents. The Yankees, leading the American by 10 games, open their home stand against the Cleveland Indians, now occupying fifth place. The St. Louis Browns and the Philadelphia Athletics begin their “cellar series” with the Browns only hall a game out of seventh. Chicago's White Sox invade Fenway Park at. Boston to tackle the Red Sox and the secondplace Detroit Tigers engage the Washington Senators. In the National the leading Cardinals have a good chance to increase their one-game margin over the Cubs against the New York. Giants who have melted down to fifth place. The Cubs should re a push-over in the Brooklyn Dodgers who apparently are bent on breaking the league record for games lost- in one season. They play a double-header today. The fast-stepping Cincinnati Reds entertain the Boston Bees who have won eight of their 11 encounters against the Reds this year. The Pittsburgh Pirates play host to Jimmy Wilson's Philadelphia Phillies who are not doing much better than the Dodgers.
