C. C. Grove of the Railroadmen’s real estate division said the repairs were in line with the company’s policy of modernizing their dwellings. The properties are scattered throughout the city, he said. Sixty-eight building permits, involving $36,075, have Deen issued in the last 24 hours at the Engineer's office, making one of the heaviest day's business in recent years. Building activity in Indianapolis has increased approximately 10 per cent over last year, according to licenses paid to City Controller Walter C. Boetcher. Building licenses total 4528 compared with 4067 for 1935 on this’ date. . During the last week, 197 licenses to build have been issued. During ®he same period in 1935, only 141 were signed. One of the largest fees paid in recent years was received yesterday from the H. P, Wasson Co., for permits to build their new eight-story addition and remodel their store. On the $221,000 for new work, the company paid $240.60 while the fee for $10,000 remodeling cost $20. Among other license totals | this year are sign inspections, 2017; dog licenses, 1804; dances, 399; secondhand auto dealers, 125.
JANE ADDAMS’ LIFE REVIEWED FOR CLUB
Rotary Members Hear Biography of Noted Social Worker.
The life of Jane Addams, creator of Huil House in Chicago, as described in the biography of the noted social worker by James Weber Linn, was reviewed by Mrs. Kathryn Turney Garten before Rotary Club members yesterday. Mrs. Garten, whose talk yesterday made her fourth appearance before the club, traced the life of Miss Addams from time she was 5 years old until her death.

Lease for Resettlement Offices to Be Signed Next Week.

States Treasury Department, it was reported today by George J. Marott, building owner. The lease is expected to be sighed next week, according to William H. Book, executive vice president of the Chamber of Commerce.
