“San
‘BY JOHN W. THOMPSON Indianapolis’ movie horizon today took on a New York hue with the announcement that “San Francisco’ at Loew's, “The White Angel” at
the Apollo, and the SchmelingLouis fight pictures at the Circle, would be held over for a second week. It is the first time in years that three downtown theaters have held over features at the same time. Such action is a high compliment to the movie industry and to local appreciation of fine movies. Theater men don’t hold pictures for two weeks to see the film again themselves: they ‘keep them because the public wants them. At Loew's, Manager L. Ward Farar reported that “San Francisco,” starring Spencer Tracy, Clark Gable and Jeanette MacDonald, is causing more interest among patrons than any film he’s shown this season.
They're Still Talking
Folks are talking about the way Director W. 8S. Van Dyke has handled the intense emotion and drama surroundifg the earthquake in San Francisco in 1906, he said. * We agree heartily with patrons that + this is a truly great motion picture worthy of anyone’s time. Mr. Farar, in order to give “San Francisco” a second week, has postponed The Indianapolis TimesLoew's local movie, “It Happened in Indianapolis,” and two revivals, “Dancing Lady” and “The Big House,” until July 10. For the regular movie fan as well as the sport enthusiast there's plenty of “swing” without any music in the Schmeling-Louis battle’ pictures at the Circle. These are the best such films yet produced and may. cause a decline in box-office figures of the next big fight. The

starting tomorrow by “Hearts Divided,” which will take the place occupied on this week’s program by . Edward Everett Horton's “Nobody's Fool. ” Miss Francis’ Stock Up
; Kenneth Collins, Apollo impresario, said that the public is showing increasing interest in Kay Francis’ grand work in the charac- * ter of Florence Nightingale. “The ~ White Angel,” in which she takes . this role, goes into a second week tomorrow. ~ Prancis fans were probably a bit startled by the actress’ excellent acting in the garb of a nurse because most of her successes heretofore have been trimmed with scores of fancy gowns. “The White Angel,” continuing the line of biographical films, gives Miss Francis the chance for which she has been wanting; a change from “clothes horse” roles, in which she had little - more to do than act natural. She proves her capability. Backed by simple, realistic set- . tings, the entire production bears . the stamp of excellence.

Radio Ramblers Headlined With Kibbee Movie at Vaudeville House.
# The only entirely new show starting in first run theaters tomorrow is at the Lyric where vaudeville and “The Big Noise,” movie starring the affable Guy Kibbee, will hold forth.
The vaudeville will be headlined by The Radio Ramblers, a trio of impersonators who make a business of acting like famous personages of the stage, screen and radio. They have just finished making a series of short movie subjects. Other acts on the stage bill include Ed and Tom Hickey, with Alice Humphries in a hokum comedy act; the Lathrop brothers and Virginia Lee, tap dancers; the Swedish Bell Ringers, who concoct real music from glasses and bells; the Eno Troupe, a group of Japanese acrobats, and Edith Griffith, popular song singer.
Cast as Business Man
On the Lyric -screen Mr. Kibbee will cavort with Warren Hull, Alma Lloyd and Marie Wilson to help out. The story of the picture concerns a business man of the old school ousted as president of a woolen mill because he refuses to manufacture fake goods. He goes into temporary retirement but can't stand the inactivity. =38 he buys half interest in a ‘tea ng and dyeing establishment with a young, handsome lad, and they make good. Complications in the form of, racketeers who attempt to collect “dues” from the cleaners are defeated by the old man. At the height of his success, he is asked to come back to his first job. With the Schmeling-Louis fight pictures continuing to occupy the Circle spotlight, “Hearts Divided,” the new second attraction, which stars Marion Davies and Dick Powell, is said vo be somewhat of a dark horse. /
Story Historical Romance
Charlie Ruggles, Edward Everett Horton, Claud Rains and Arthur
1. The genial Guy Kibbee plays the role of an honest business man in “The Big House,” Lyric screen attraction opening tomorrow. On the stage will be vaudeville headed by the Radio Ramblers, a trio
of impersonators.
2 If these folks look a little old-fashioned, remember that “San
Francisco,” held over for a second
week at Loew’s starting tomorrow,
is based on the story about the Barbary Coast in 1906. Left to right, Al Shean, formerly of the Gallagher and Shean team; Jeanette Mac-
Donal and Clark Gable.
3. The young man who used to strum his salvo with Charlie Davis’ orchestra here, Dick Powell, is shown in a scene from his latest pic-
ture, “Hearts Divided,” with Marion Davies as his leading lady.
Charlie
Ruggles and Edward Everett Horton are also in’ the film. The picture
is to be shown at the Circle,
