An exhibit of oils, pastels and water colors, painted last winter under the instruction of William F. Kaeser, PWA art teacher, opened yesterday at the Lyman Gallery, 31 Monument Circle.

“Bottles and Plant” (pictured above), painted by Mrs. Maude G. Bennett, was awarded honorable mention. It is considered typical of WPA work. Mr. Kaeser explained that beginners were forced to remain indoors during the winter, and conseguently the first: book, vase or plant that came into view soon was painted on canvas. Several of the 40 pictures exhibited are “still lifes.” Predominating colors are blue and green.

landscape included in the display. Floyd Hopper and Cecil Head, prominent Indiana artists, made the selections for the exhibit. CAB COMPANY SUES TO GET 11 LICENSES

Complaint Alleges Boetcher Refused to Issue Permits.

Suit to mandate Walter Boetcher, city controller, to issue 11 taxicab licenses under the new city regulatory ordinance was on file today in Superior Court. Filed by the Red Cah Co. the complaint contended that the controller refused to issue the licenses although the new ordinance went into. effect today. Mr. Boetcher said the cab company said that it had 116 cabs insured as of Dec. 31, 1935, and that it is entitled to that number. However, the controller said, his records show only 105 cabs of the company insured and reported to him on that

Easton, Marion County supervisor of the National Union for Social Justice, Clayton A. Sanders and Mrs. Wilma Hendrickson are incorporators. Mr. Easton, Indiana resident agent, said the new organization is to afliliate with the Union Party of

liam Lemke as the party's presidential nominee. The new party is formed as a coalition of the National Union and the Farmer's Union.
