' By United Press BLOOMINGTON, Ind. June 25. —Election - of officers today concluded the 57th. encampment of the Grand Army of the Republic. Quincy A. Hunt, Terre Haute, was elected state department commander in a contest with David Kinney, Indianapolis. Joseph Thompson, Solsberry, was elected ‘senior vice commander; I. W. Sharp, Warsaw, Junior vice commander, and George R. Streetor, Hammond, chaplain. The convention chose Indianapolis for the 1937 convention. Fifty-four of Indiana's G. A. R. veterans last night heard greetings from their national commander, Oley Nelson, Des Moines, Ia., and _ received tributes from Raymond 8. Springer, Connersville, Republican candidate for Governor, and former - Judge J, B. Wilson of-Monroe-Owen Circuit Court, at their campfire meeting. Although a few of the old soldiers insisted yesterday on marching part of the route of the parade, most of them rode in automobiles or on some of the 50 colorful floats.
