The United States Civil Service Commission’ has announced open competitive examinations. LATE GARDENS ARE ADVOCATED

Governor’s Board Urges Relief Clients Plant Extra Crop.

The desirability of planting late crops in relief gardens of the state was stressed today by officials of the garden and food conservation division of the Governor's Commission on Unemployment Relief in a bulletin sent to township trustees. There is a general failure to realize the possibilities of late gardens, commission officials said. Planting

in August in most parts of the state, it was said. All relief gardeners, the bulletin said, are entitled to a package of seeds, in addition to the seed supply issued early in the season. Tomato and cabbage plants also are available. All seeds and plants are distributed through the trustees who are conducting the garden projects in co-operation with the commission. An abundant supply of plants is available at seven state institutions which have grown them for this purpose, officials said.
