Band Instrument Pla Plant. Employes Send Telegram to Washington. Times Special ELKHART, Ind. June 16. — An employes committee of W. T. Armstrong Co., band instrument manufacturers, today awaited results of their telegraphed protest against reduction of duties on musical instruments.

A three-page telegram from the employes to Representative Samuel B. Pettingill appealed to the Congressman to protect their jobs, “threatened by the alarming increase in imported musical instruments,” The protest was forward-

ed to the United States Tariff Commission. Other Elkhart band instrument factories are joining in a fight to prevent a planned reduction of duties on French woodwind instruments.

Cuts in bus fares to all points between here and Cincinnati and Madison were placed into effect by the Indianapolis and Southeastern Lines, Will. M. Frazee, vice president and general manager, announced. One way tickets have been reduced one-third, and an additional 10 per cent reduction has been made on round trip tickets. The new fares conform to.a 2 cents a mile rate, instead of the 3 cent rate charged heretofore, Mr. Frazee said. i
