Millions of radio listeners, what-

ever their party affiliation, are tak-:

ing added interest in the Republican National Convention following the tremendous ovation given former President Herbert Hoover at last night's session. With the conclave broadcast promising to extend through this

evening and on into the night, poli- |.

tics becomes top radio fare, with all other programs giving way. _ The Republican convention has turned out to be a good show. The technical and educational value of radio once more is being demonstrated in the expert handling of the sessions. s* 8 » HE second of President Roose velt's addresses on his present tour is scheduled to be broadcast from Dallas at 10:30 tomorrow morning, through WIRE. The speech is a feature of Texas’ Centennial Celebration.

Those who “point with pride” and “view with alarm” via WFBM this season will do so under the watchful eye of William F. Kiley Jr.. who began his new duties as the station’s continuity editor this week. In addition to writing original scripts and fixing up outside : copy, his job includes editing all politital speeches aired by the lpecal station. Do you remember “Pep Unlimit- . ed,” WFBM's popular morning program of a few seasons back? Mr. Kiley was its announcer. A graduate of Tech and Butler, Mr. Kiley has been locally “radio-active” for the last five yedrs. ” ” »

ILTON BERLE'S comedy has been made such a hit with Rudy Vallee and his listeners these last three weeks that Rudy has signed the Broadway star for three more appearances on the variety program, beginning tonight at 6, on WLW. Henry Huil, the original Jeeter Lester of “Tobacco Road.” and Muriel Dickson, prano, also are slated. What do American high school students think of the present generation? The answer is being given in the High School Town Meetings of the Air series, the second of which presents discussions by seniors at John ‘Marshall High School, Chicago, on NBC’c Blue network and WJZ (660) at 9:30 tomorrow morning. ", The same plan of presentation .is followed as in America’s Town Meeting of the Air, which was voted the best educational program last season by the Women's National Radio Commission.
