JAMES Ww. SLAUTER, who died ' Sunday .at his home, 322 Bernard- . av, was to be buried today in Crown Hill after services at 2 in the Ragsdale & Price Funeral Home. He Was a resident of Indianapolis more than 30 years. ‘Mr. Slauter, 76, was a member of the North M. E. Church and the 1.0. O. F. and was active in raising funds fér the building of the North Church. He wis a baker. Survivors are the widow, Mrs. Catherine Slauter; two half brothers, Perry M. Slauter, Tipton, and Henry K. Slauter of Seattle, Wash. and nephews, Frank L. Claude of Indianapolis and Charles H. Slauter of Chicago. MRS. CECILIA SMITH, 1819 E. Ohio-st, who died yesterday in St. Vincent's Hospital following a briet illness, is to be buried in Holy Cross Cemetery tomorrow “morning following services at 9 at Holy Cross Church. Mrs. Smith was 66 and a resident of Indianapolis 50 years. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Alma Carr and Mrs. Helen Peeler: a son, Ralph; three sisters, Mrs. Augusta Holding, Miss Mary Egan and Mrs, Jane Stein, and several grandchildren, all of Indianapolis. MRS. MINNIE E. THOMPSON, a lifelong resident of Indianapolis, who died Sunday at her home, 570 N. Tremont-st, is to be buried tomorrow afternoon in Crown Hill

$8000 JUDGMENT FOR RAILROADER REVERSED

Appellate Court Rules Decision Was Contrary to Law.

A decision of the Morgan Circuit Court which granted an $8000 judgment to Thomas Connaughton, brakeman for the New York, Chicago & St. Louis Railway, was reversed yesterday by the : Indiana Appellate Court as contr to law. Mr. Connaughton alleged that a cinder caused permanent injury to one of his eyes. The cinder was from a locomotive on which he was riding on a run between Hort Wayne and Bellevue, O 0.
