Hedged by the time the Republican ational Convention is over. A meeting is scheduled in Indian‘apolis June 15 to discuss detailed ‘plans for defeating President Rooseyvelt and New Deal members of the ‘House and Senate. Word of the organization leaked out when a wealthy Midwestern woman, invited by letter to join, turned the letter over to a Democratic friend. Leiter Explains Campaign The letter was signed by Mrs. ‘Mabel Jacques Eichel, a prominent * New Yorker, who was associated with Henry Breckinridge’s campaign for Senator in New York State. The letter explains that the movement was started by Mrs. Eichel; ‘Miss Helen Frick of the Pittsburgh Steel family; Mrs. Preston Davie, founder of the National Republic Builders, and one or two others. “Since thén we have had several Juncheons and meetings,” the letter says, “with enthusiastic support from every one we have explained our purpose to. Miss Annie Burr Jennings of Fairfield, Conn., is tremendously interested and planning to have some meetings. : “Recently in Baltimore, Mrs, ‘Robert Garrett (wife of a Baltimore banker) had a most enthusiastic meeting at which I poke. There were both Republicans! and Democrats present, all .welcoming our suggestion of an opportunity to actively ‘participate in p movement such as we propose. [One of the ost enthusiastic of those attending was Mrs. Cabell Bruce, wife of the former Democratic Senator from Maryland.” Prominent Names Listed The letter adds that aniong those who have joined are Mrs. Christian Holmes, the former Betty Fleischman of the Fleischman products family; Mrs. Jeremiah Milbank, wife of a wealthy New York banker: Mrs. Bronson Griscom of the Long Island publishing family; Mrs. Mabel M. We wish to keep this movement very quiet until “the convention, says the letter, “We are taking great precautions about telephone conversations and avoiding all publicity in the press. This is important.” Three persons have pledged $5Q00 each, the letter states. Inclosed was a pledge binding the signer to “work and vote for the election of anti-New Deal candidates for office, both for President and members of Congress,” together with a suggestion that checks be made out to Mrs. A. B. Baldridge, ‘Room 909-A, 485 Madison-av,® New York City.

, Dream, and forever keep trying, Barton R. Pogue, Indiana University English instructor, told 266 Washington High School graduates at commencement exercises in’ Butler Fieldhouse last night. “Happiness lies in never giving up, in finding one’s field and sticking to it whether worldly success comes or not,” Mr. Pogue said. Paul C. Stetson, schools superintendent, presented the diplomas. “With these exercises tonight there will have been more than 2500 young people go out this week from the Indianapolis high schools with diplomas,” he said. “No one can] look into the faces of these graduates. without feeling there is no cause for pessimism, that when these go forth to the ‘service of their city, state and nation, the future is in safe hands” Walter 8. Gingery, prinicpal, presented awards and scholarship. The school orchestra played and the Rev. Landy J. Kendall, West Washington Street M. E. Church pastor, gave the invocation.
