BUTLER. MAPS 5-DAY PROGRAM: FOR GRADUATION

“Commencement Week’ to Open June 11, School . Head Announces. * “Commencement week” will begin

at Butler University June 11 and close the -eighty-first graduation

ceremonies June 15, President James,

W. Putnam announced today. Events on the program are to inelude the annual college of religion

banquet and the senior ball on June 11. The former wili be held at the Butler Campus Club and the latter at the Hillcrest Country Club. Dean ¥. D. Kershner is arranging the banquet. Phi Kappa Phi, senior scholastic honorary society, will sponsor its traditional initiation banquet at 5:30 Pp. m. June 12 in the Washington. Dr. Earl R. Beckner, new president, will be installed and 32 students will be initiated.

Alumni Day June 13

Alumni Day will be celebrated on June 13. More than 4100 graduates Have been invited. Other events of the day will be the Scarlet Quill tea at 3:30 and the senior class day exercises. Alumni Day will include the alumni supper at 5.30, a business meeting at 7, and a formal program

at 7:30. Classes whose numerals end |

in one and six wil hold reunions this year. The baccalaureate sermon will be given at 3:30 Sunday, June 14, in the Fieldhouse by President Albert Parker of Hanover College. The graduation ceremonies will be held at 9:30 the next morning with President Raymond Walters of the University of Cincinnati as speaker. Dr. and Mrs. Putnam will hold their annual reception for graduates at 5 Sunday, following the baccalauerate pervices. A registration of 800 persons is expected by the 1936 Butler summer school when the session opens June 16, Prof. George, F. Leonard, director, has announced.

MEXICO RUSHING WORK ON ROUTE FROM U.S.

12,000 Employed to Condition Road Through Mountains, By Secripps-Howard Newspaper Alliance «WASHINGTON, June §5—Completion of the highway from Laredo, Tex., to Mexico City is being rushed, United States Consul Julian C. Dorr reports to the Commerce Department from Mexico City. Twelve thousand workmen are now employed in three-hour shifts along the mountainous part of the road, which is still in poor condigion for all-weather travel. Oiling is almost completed from Mexico City to Jacala and from Matlapa to Nuevo Lerado. Between Jacala and Matlapa—94 miles through the mountains—the road will merely be graveled. This section has been left temporarily without surfacing so that engineers may study the course of flood. waters during the rainy season and deternine the best methods of drainage.

Meridian Heights School Gives Diplomas.

Commencement exercises for the Meridian Heights Kindergarten and Primary School, 47th-st and ParkAv, were held last night in the community room.

Forty-six pupils, comprising the largest class ever graduated from the school, are to receive diplomas. They are to wear black caps and gowns. Diplomas are to be presented by the Rev. Heart Disease Fatal

Mrs. Harry Featherling died early today in her home, 417 W. Mer-rill-st, apparently from heart disease. The body was sent to city morgue.
