when the distinguished Osric Mills Watkins Medal, offered by the Osric Mills Watkins Post of the American Legion to the outstanding scholar and athlete of the senior class, was presented to him. Jack has been yan outstanding member of football, -basketball and track teams throughout his four years in the school. He has won more major letters than any athlete ever to be graduated from Shortridge. His “S” collection includes three in football, two in basketball and three in track. Jack’ played forward on the Shortridge city championship freshman baskektbal team in ’'33 and was leading scorer: ‘with 87 points. He

He holds the city record in the broad jump, in which event he has triumphed for the last two years. Last year at a special school auditorium Jack was given a large blue blanket with a block “8” in the center ana a white star for each letter attained. This was the first award. of its type ever made at Shortridge. He is considered a ‘regular guy” by his fellow students and a talented scholar by his teachers.
