FACES LIQUOR CHARGE Woman Arrested Ater Raid on Eleventh-st. Mrs. Bess Gipperich, 36, said by police to be the operator of a drink parlor at 26 W. llth-st, today faced charges of violating the state liquor control law. She was one of 15 persons arrested at that address yesterday morning, following a raid by city police and state excise officers. Police said the other 14 were customers.

GATES FACTION IRKEJ BY IRWIN ACTIONJS HINT Rump Session of State Committee Prior to Convention Hinted. Fight for control of the Republican state committee flared anew today when it was learned that a faction seeking to oust Don B. Irwin, state chairman, contemplated a move that might bring the state committee into session prior to the state convention June 3. This development followed action of Mr. Irwin in calling a meeting of the state committee for June 4, the day following the convention, it was learned. Fourth District chairman, who is a candidate for the chairmanship, has demanded of Mr. Irwin that he seat two Eighth District committeemen. Mr. Gates and his supporters declared that with the Eighth District votes they will have control of the state committee. Some observers saw indications that the Gates faction might call a rump meeting of the state committee to name anew chairman. Others, however, believed a compromise would be effected. Seek Free Delegation A letter has gone out to every Marion County delegate to the Republican state convention urging that he go to the June 3 convention unpledged, it was learned today. The letter was signed by Harry O. Chamberlin, former Circuit Court judge; Howard S. Young and Emsley W. Johnson, attorneys; Harry Hendrickson and Rox Young, it was reported. Mr. Chamberlin was affiliated with the reorganization group which had sought to upset the alleged Coffin control of the county organization.
