PIONEERS PLAN PAGEANT WITH WAR SETTING
Departure of Troops to Mexico to Be Re-enacted at Crawfordsville. Time Special CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind., May 21.—More than 100 Indianapolis members of the Society of Indiana Pioneers are expected to attend the organization's annual spring picnic at Lane Place here Saturday. With the Montgomery County Historical Society as host, the meeting is to be in charge of Emsley W. Johnson. Indianapolis, chairman, and W. H. Inslcy, Indianapolis, state president. The formal program is to open at 2;30 following a basket picnic. The principal address, “Henry Lane, Representative Hoosier,” is to be delivered by Dr. T. G. Gronert, Wabash College history instructor. At the conclusion of the speaking, a pageant depicting the departure of soldiers for the Mexican War is to be presented. Local society leaders who are in charge of arrangements include President Shirl Herr; G. B. Luckett, vice president, and Directors A. M. .Smith, Bernard Foley, Richard Banta, Jonn Shuler, Miss Anna Caroline Crane and Mrs. L. B. Hopkins. Members of the organization are descendants of pioneers who established residence in Indiana before 1830. STUDENTS ARE HONORED Two Named to Board of Aeons at Indiana U.
