STANDARD OIL SALESMEN GET BUSINESS TIPS 250 Employes Attend State Meeting at Indianapolis Athletic Club. Concluding the discussion at a meeting of 250 Standard Oil Cos. salesmen of Indiana at the Indianapolis Athletic Club, Amos Ball, Chicago, general manager of sales, advocated new and advanced methods to meet changing conditions. Standard salesmen, who are the link between the company and their retail dealers, are expected to render highly intelligent assistance to dealers in planning service to customers which modern conditions require, Mr. Ball explained. The business situation is improving, he declared. Crop prospects and economic conditions are generally better, and conditions in the oil industry are the best they have been for some years. He reported details of the best year his company has • en.ioyed since 1930, and predicted further good results this year. Show Sound Film The story of the company’s new summer sales program was told in novel manner by showing of a sound film which was specially produced in Hollywood. The feature-length picture, entitled “It's Up to You.” portrays the success of an ambitious hometown boy in building up the business of a. service station by using right sales methods. Players appearing in the picture include Edgar Kennedv, Frank Craven, Ray Walker, Betty Blythe. Bryant Washborn and Maxine Doyle. The arrangements for the meeting were handled by R. H. Sohellschmidt, local advertising representative. Rely on Newspapers The advertising campaign outlined to the salesmen for the summer involves principal reliance by Standard as usual on newspaper space. Approximately 1500 daily and weekly newspapers are to carry the schedule in 13 Midwest states. The annual joint, conference and banquet for officers and employe representatives also was held at the Indianapolis Athletic Club. Officials attending from Chicago include Mr. Ball. H. A. Lewis, assistant general sales manager; L. W. Cameron, assistant general manager; H. L. Porter, sales promoter; J. J. Babb, head of retail sales; C. G. Kustner, technical division; A. N. Steele, advertising manager; J. W. Curry, director of industrial relations. and H. W. King, assistant director of industrial relations. E. P. Galbreath, manager; G. E. Lewis and H. H. Akers, assistant managers of Indianapolis; F. H. Fillingham, manager South Bend, and R. A. Miller, manager Evansville, attended.

His organization sold 104 new' cars and 158 used cars, and in talking with him recently he informed me they had already delivered over 50 new cars this month. So it looks as though he should show up at the end of the month with his objective made. a a a Easter Sunday parade was not only for the fair sex. but many new and used cars were purchased that were also on show due to it being such a fine day. One would think the dealers'stock were depleted, with all this buying, but find there are still many good ones to select for the coming summer.

Me-ridian-st. The pretty young lady shown above is perched upon the fender of one of the new 119-horse power V-12 Lincoln-Zephyrs, to be seen at the Browning Gent firm, according to Mr. Gent, this is the first time the car has been on display in Indianapolis. Approximately 200 Indianapolis Chevrolet dealers, their new and used car managers and salesmen had launched on anew sales drive today following a breakfast meeting yesterday at the Lincoln. The purpose of the meeting, according to E. W. Berger, manager of the Indianapolis zone office for the Chevrolet Motor Cos. was to present the May sales campaign which the factory has mapped for the new and used car departments. Mr. Berger was assisted by A. F. Pate, city sales manager of the Chevrolet Indianapolis zone office, and L. G. Pomeroy, Indiana division manager for the General Motors Acceptance Corp. STATE DEALERS GET ‘DOPE' ON GRAHAM-PAIGE Executives Present Plans for 1936 Production at Luncheon. Indiana dealers today had "inside information” on Graham-Paige cars, gathered at the Lincoln Thursday when they were guests at a general sales meeting and luncheon conducted by officials of the GrahamPaige Motors Corp., Detroit. Executives present were F. R. Valpey. vice president and general sales manager; C. w. Matheson. vice president; Frank A. Garry. Indiana district manager; Edward R. Wade, vice president of the United States Advertising Corp. of Toledo, which handles Graham corporation advertising. The purpose of the Indianapolis meeting, which is one of a series in key cities throughout the country, is to better acquaint dealers with what the factory has done to improve the new 1936 Graham and to familiarize them with the results of economy tests which Graham has been conducting this year. Instead of .speed, safety and economy have been emphasized in the 1936 Graham models, it was said. The economy results have been accomplished iargely through the aid of the supercharger which Graham has been able to build on a volydne production basis.
